DAILY PRAYERS
Prayers for everyday living;
honouring and serving our Living God.
EASTER 2026
Pray aloud at any time, or with a soft voice,
in the morning, and at dinner time,
the Lord will answer each prayer, one at a time.
Day 1 Sunday Prayer – losing my way
My dear Lord God, when I look around at what’s happening in this world, I wonder
where I fit in. Your Word tells me to set my heart on things above, not on things of this
earth, then please grant me the wisdom to seek first and foremost Your kingdom and Your
righteousness. Lord, help me to believe in You, and also in myself as a Christian.
I pray through your Son, Jesus Christ my Lord, Amen.
Day 2 Monday Prayer – surrender
My dear Lord God, forgive me for trying to be the master of my life.
Help me to depend on You for my sense of self-worth, my satisfaction, my fulfillment, and
my joy. I surrender my heart and my will, and my ways to You. I have placed my life in
Your loving hands, Lord have mercy.
I pray through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Day 3 Tuesday Prayer – direction
My dear Lord God, teach me your ways, Lord, show me my path I should take.
Guide me in your truth and teach me where my place and value lie, for you are God, my
Saviour, and my hope is in you all day long. My mind is weakened by temptations but my
heart is strong for you. Direct me toward Your will and Your ways I plead. I trust You in
my next step, I await Your guidance.
I pray through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Day 4 Wednesday Prayer – purpose
My dear Lord God, You have given specific gifts and talents to me that I can
use to help and bless others in need. Lord, I look to You continuing to reveal Your
purpose for my life, I pray that I will be open and obedient to do what You ask of me.
Help me to let go of control over people and their situations, letting You show me how
to give Your assistance in the ways that give You the glory that is Yours.
I trust in You to help me, and am ready to serve You in every way I can.
I pray through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Day 5 Thursday Prayer – trust
My dear Lord God, thank you that I am saved by my faith in You, that faith
comes from You and Your Holy Spirit’s work in my life. Help me to exercise that
faith, allowing it to grow more over time. Please let me understand more fully my
place and in what You have designed for me to do. My trust is in You.
I pray through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Day 6 Friday Prayer – guidance
My dear Lord God, be my sun, shining Your light on the path You have given
me, protect me from mistakes and temptations along the way. Grant me wisdom, to
know which way to turn and how to move forward. Lord, make Your voice very clear
to me through Your Word, that I am guided on the correct paths through my journey
in this life.
I pray through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Day 7 Saturday – The Full Serenity Prayer
God, grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace.
Taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it.
Trusting that You will make all things right
if I surrender to Your will.
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You
forever in the next, Amen.
SEVEN DAILY PRAYERS
FOR SEVEN DAYS
DECEMBER 2025 – JANUARY 2026
More than once this year, your home may be filled with family and friends,
and you may gather around a table piled high with food.
Celebrate the occasion with a mindful Christmas prayer.
In fact, celebrate the entire season with thoughtful and thankful Christmas prayers
that remind us all of the true meaning of the love of Jesus our Lord and Saviour.
May these prayers set the tone for the most gracious Christmas of all, Amen!
Pray aloud at any time, or with a soft voice,
in the morning, and at dinner time,
the Lord will answer each prayer, one at a time.
Day 1 Sunday Prayer
My dear Lord God, Lord of All, we give you thanks for your abundance, and for all
the great things you have given us, especially the birth of Your Son. We ask your blessing
upon our family and friends. We also pray that in your great mercy, you would look kindly
upon all those in need during this Christmas time.
I pray through your Son, Jesus Christ my Lord, Amen.
Day 2 Monday Prayer
My dear Lord God, don’t let anyone miss You this Christmas season, please be at our
table when we sit to eat and celebrate your birth. Be with all those who believe in your love,
also be with all who have no understanding of your great presence. Help all of us to
simplify our activities and traditions so we can focus the celebration on Your birth.
Thank You for being the Prince of Peace, and I ask You for that peace to reign in our
hearts. Thank You for the simple but life-changing message of Your love.
I pray through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Day 3 Tuesday Prayer
My dear Lord God, you have poured upon us the light of your Word, please grant
that the same light inflaming our hearts, that we may shine forth in our lives through Jesus
Christ our Lord, reminding us to be compassionate and to love our neighbours.
I pray through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Day 4 Wednesday Prayer
My dear Lord God, Your name is still called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty
God, The Everlasting Father, and The Prince of Peace. As Your children, we cry out
for justice, and a new awareness of Your love. We choose by faith to make the good
news of great joy a reality in our own lives, so others can see us as lighted trees of life.
We know one day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that You are
Lord. And we also know that peace on earth can only come when hearts find peace
with You. You are still our Joy. You are still our Peace. You are no longer a babe in the
manger, You are Lord of Lords and King of Kings. And we still celebrate You as Lord
– this Christmas and always.
I pray through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Day 5 Thursday Prayer
My dear Lord God, help us remember the birth of Jesus, that we may share in
the song of the angels, the gladness of the shepherds, and worship of the wise men.
Close the door on hate and open the door of love all over the world. Let kindness
come with every gift, and good desires with every greeting. Deliver us from evil by
the blessing which Jesus Christ brings, and teach us to be happy, loving souls with
clear hearts. May Christmas make us happy to be Your children, and let us go into
each evening with grateful thoughts, forgiving and forgiven.
I pray through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Day 6 Friday Prayer
My dear Lord God, bless with your abundant grace this our Christmas tree as a
symbol of joy. May its evergreen branches be a sign of your never-fading promises.
May its colourful lights and ornaments call us to decorate our home and our world
with abundant love. May the gifts that surround this tree be symbols of the gifts we
have received from the Tree of Christ’s Cross. Holy Christmas tree within our home,
may Joy and Peace come and nest in your branches and in our hearts.
I pray through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Day 7 Saturday Prayer
My dear Lord God, thank You for coming to earth so You could redeem me.
You love me so much, and I am so grateful for that love. Without You, I would still be
lost and in sin. But because of everything You have done for me, today I am free; my
life is blessed; Jesus is my Lord; Heaven is my home. I will be eternally thankful to
You for everything You did to save me!
I pray through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
CHRISTMAS DAY PRAYER
My dear Lord God, my Creator, I offer this humble prayer on Christmas Day.
We come to worship with a song of thanks in our hearts – a song of redemption,
a song of hope and renewal. We pray for joy in our hearts, hope in our God,
love to forgive, and peace upon the earth. We ask for the salvation of all our family
members and friends, and we pray your blessings on all people. May there be bread for
the hungry, love for the unlovable, healing for the sick, protection for our children, and
wisdom for our youth. We pray for the forgiveness of sinners and abundant life in
Christ. Holy Spirit, fill our hearts with your love and power, Amen.
OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2025
Prayers for winning emphasize fair play and gratitude, while prayers for losing
focus on finding peace and strength in adversity, seeking comfort and a chance
to grow from disappointment. Many sports-focused prayers ask for humility in
victory and grace in defeat, and for spiritual strength to endure challenges and
to learn from both success and failure.
Pray aloud at any time, or with a soft voice,
in the morning, and at dinner time,
the Lord will answer each prayer, one at a time.
Day 1 Sunday Prayer
My dear Lord God, please help me to grow in the importance of winning with dignity
and respect. Winning with the right attitude is just as important as losing. Let us all be
encouraged to be real competitors in life, and at the same time teach us to handle both
winning and losing with dignity, respect and humility.
I pray through your Son, Jesus Christ my Lord, Amen.
Day 2 Monday Prayer
My dear Lord God, in the battle that goes on through life, I ask for a field that is fair,
a chance that is equal with all in the strife, the courage to strive and to dare. If I should win,
let it be by the code, with my faith and my honour held high. If I should lose, let me stand
by the road and cheer as the winners go by.
I pray through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Day 3 Tuesday Prayer
My dear Lord God, let me play well but fairly, help me to learn something that
matters once the game is over. Let competition make me strong but never hostile.
Always let me help my opponent up. Never catch me rejoicing in the adversity of others.
If I know victory, allow me to be happy; if I am denied, keep me from envy and bitterness.
Remind me that sports are just games. If through athletics I set an example, let it be a good
example for all to see your nature as my Lord God.
I pray through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Day 4 Wednesday Prayer
…
My dear Lord God, I come before You today in surrender.
In surrender of all my mishaps, struggles, and heartache.
Sometimes my failures threaten to crush my spirit and my pain
threatens to suffocate me. Defeat looms over me.
So, today I come to You and ask You to be my strength, wisdom, and cornerstone.
When I feel struck down, remind me I am never defeated.
When I feel persecuted, remind me I am not forsaken.
And when I am afflicted, remind me I cannot be crushed with You as my Saviour.
I pray through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Day 5 Thursday Prayer
My dear Lord God, I ask that you help our Church family to keep growing in
the virtue of humility. Help each of us individually to glorify God for our talents and
gifts, to use those God-given talents to the best of our ability. Help us always to seek
God’s will in how we use our talents and gifts for the good of others and help us to
submit to the authority of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Saviour.
I pray through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Day 6 Friday Prayer
My dear Lord God, I come before you as a parent, seeking your blessing and
favour upon my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as they pursue
success in their lives, and in their sport. Grant them the strength and endurance to
compete with excellence and to reach their fullest potential. May their efforts be
rewarded with success and achievement. I pray for my child’s safety and well-being,
protect them from injury and harm, and surround them with your divine shield of
protection.
I pray through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Day 7 Saturday Prayer
My dear Lord God, help us to honour you with our
God-given talents and abilities, and may we live with
integrity, sportsmanship, and humility. Teach us to use these
gifts for the greater good and to be a positive influence on our
family, friends and all who we come in contact with.
Lord, may we find fulfillment and joy in our pursuits, knowing
that our worth is not defined by winning or losing, but by the
character and integrity we can outwardly show. Help us to
remember that true success is found in honouring you with
our talents, to glorify you in all we do.
I pray through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

you would bring the right teaching into their lives that can bring truth
to their hearts and hope for their souls. O Lord, I weep bitter tears,

during my time of heartbreak and loss. In Your beautiful name I release
my deepest sorrows and receive Your abundant life.

Prayer – God of Grace and Mercy

We give thanks as your church for the privilege to walk beside patients, families and staff in Queensland’s public hospitals through the work of our chaplains for over 40 years
We lament that we have not been able to sustain the provision of this important mission in the same way,
We pray for guidance as we seek out new ways of being Jesus’ hands and feet in hospitals across our state.
God, we pray for every chaplain who has heard your call to serve, to love, and to be the presence of Christ.
We give thanks for them and pray blessings over their lives.
We give thanks for each opportunity they took to share with a patient in moments of joy and celebration and in moments of pain and anguish.
For the chance to support family and friends caring for their loved ones, we give thanks.
For each moment in which our chaplains could care, encourage and sustain medical, operational and administrative staff in their work, we give thanks.
We give thanks for each time our chaplains have been able to share peace, offer comfort, speak a blessing, sit in silence, or hold a hand.
We ask you to reach out into their lives and fill them with purpose, peace, hope, and energy for the next steps they are taking.
In the times to come, we pray for your ongoing presence with patients, families, and staff in hospitals across the Synod.
Inspire us to new opportunities – to serve, to help, and to bless those in need.
We pray for your healing and blessing.
In the name of Christ,
Amen

Compiled by Rev PeterHall
Read aloud in the morning, and/or at dinnertime
Day 1 This day, O Lord, may your presence enfold us within and without; may your peace be in our hearts and in our minds;
may your joy brighten up our ‘being’;
may your love flow through us to touch another person’s life; may your Spirit be our guiding power
that we may know that we have walked with you this day. In your name, Jesus, we pray, Amen.
Day 2 We wake in the morning, O Lord, from the blessing of a night’s rest, to the opportunities of the day ahead.
We pray with thankfulness in our hearts for the divine love we continue to receive.
May that love be our inspiration to everyone we meet this day and in all we do and say.
In our work and in our relaxation may we feel your presence that brings peace of mind and being.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Day 3 O Lord, when difficulties and trials come into our lives
may we trust you completely for guidance through these times
that, in trusting you, we do not worry about the process or the outcome.
Your ways, O Lord, are not our ways and we acknowledge that your wisdom is greater than our wisdom and understanding.
Where we have sought to follow our own wisdom and understanding we ask you to forgive us that we may know peace of mind.
This we pray in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Day 4 Gracious and holy God our Father,
I thank you for the many blessings I receive from you.
I am not worthy of them or the great love you show toward me. Often I fail to live up to the standard that your Son set before us. Through His death on the cross we have forgiveness for our failings. For this we give thanks and praise you.
May I this day share that love with every person I meet through word and deed that you may be glorified. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
Day 5 Unto to you, O Lord, do I lift up my heart this day,
being sincerely grateful for the opportunities that it may bring. May all I do today be acceptable to you.
Keep me ever mindful that I am dependent on your abundant grace and blessing.
Teach me to know that godliness with contentment is to my gain and to live accordingly.
In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
Day 6 Dear Lord God, as this day opens before me may you hold centre place in it.
Life is full of uncertainties that can shake my faith and my being. Touch me again with your love and as I feel your presence in my life may my trust and faith in you be strengthened despite circumstances.
As we read of our Saviour’s life and teaching, may the qualities of goodness
be continually strengthened and deepened in our lives.
As people see us may we be a reflection of Jesus Christ and attract others to want to know Him. This we pray in His name, Amen.
Day 7 Dear Lord, another day has passed and its events have touched my life.
The mistakes that I have made today make me realize how much I need you. That need is not just for a moment but continuously.
Forgive me where I may have failed you and others in different ways.
Thank you for the blessings that I have received from you directly and through others.
Thank you that the knowledge of your love for me
will enable me to sleep peacefully and ready to serve you tomorrow. This prayer I pray in the name of your Son, Jesus, Amen.
